Chosen To Shine

“Those who are wise will shine like the brightness of the heavens, and those who lead many to righteousness, like the stars for ever and ever.”-Daniel 12:3, NIV

It is time for you to radiate the glory of God in the midst of this dark world. You can’t let your home, workplace or neighborhood remain in darkness for one more day, but it is time to let your light shine. As a matter of fact, you owe it to the world to show them the light of Jesus Christ. Edmund Burke once said, “The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.” Will you do something?

In Matthew 5:14-16 Jesus declares,
“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.”(ESV)

When we refuse to shine for God we are in effect choosing to do nothing while evil triumphs. If you try to use the excuse, “I’m shy so I can’t just walk up to people and pray for their healing or give a word of encouragement like that.” You are actually saying, “I will choose to do nothing so that evil can triumph, but later on I will complain about the darkness.” Are you tired of complaining and playing the victim when in Christ you possess the answer for the problem?

Today it’s time turn your light on and keep it on. Refuse to hide or shy away from the challenge that darkness presents to you on a daily basis. Being Christ-like is not a weekend gig, but it’s a lifestyle that requires true commitment. Be committed and TURN YOUR LIGHT ON!
