“This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.”-Joshua 1:8(ESV)
God’s word is an important part of our spiritual development, but too many people downplay it’s role in their lives. In Deuteronomy 8:3 God teaches us that “man does not live by bread alone, but man lives by every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord.” So just like you wouldn’t dare go a day without eating at least one meal, you should never go a day without feasting on the eternal truths of God’s word.
2 Peter 1:3 explains that we are able to access the divine power and provision of God “through the knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and goodness(HCSB).” However, you can’t have the knowledge of Him unless you open up your bible and know Him through His word on daily basis. Your understanding of who God is will actually increase as you read His word, but don’t just read it meditate on it.
What do I mean when I say “meditate” on it? I mean that you should always get in the habit of pondering or reflecting upon the scripture that you have just read. As you reflect upon God’s word, then His wisdom, knowledge, understanding, strength, counsel and character will become a part of your very being. As these aspects of God’s nature transform you and become a part of you then you find it easier to be led by the Holy Spirit on a daily basis and the people around will become of God’s overwhelming presence in you and around you.
Today, please don’t misunderstand the things that I am writing to you today. I am not exalting head knowledge above the Holy Spirit because our understanding of the scripture is clarified by the Holy Spirit(see 1 Corinthians 2:14). However, I am encouraging everyone to become a diligent student of the word of God so that you can know the difference between truth and error because if you indulge in enough of God’s truth it won’t be hard to reject the devil’s lies.
Questions for further thought:
- What has been your greatest hindrance when it comes to reading or studying God’s word?
- What is your understanding of God currently?
- How has your understanding of God changed now that you are consistently studying God’s word?
“No unbelief made him waver concerning the promise of God, but he grew strong in his faith as he gave glory to God, fully convinced that God was able to do what he had promised.”-Romans 4:20, ESV
Have you ever wavered while waiting on the fulfillment of God’s promises? We know that God doesn’t lie, but why is it so hard for us to wait on the fulfillment of God’s promises? In this time of waiting we often find ourselves frequently questioning God, our ability to hear God and whether or not our relationship with God is on the right track, but I want to encourage you to be patiently faithful to God as he is to us.
I remember a many years ago I needed and wanted a car, but could never seem save enough money to buy one because they were so expensive. However, one day while in a pentcostal campmeeting the preacher prayed over me and one of the things he decreed was that God would give me a car that I won’t have to pay for and I praised God in agreement with that word. Now after hearing that word my faith went into great expectation mode expecting for my car to materialize either that night or the next day at the latest, however it did not. I didn’t let the delay discourage me even though many months and even years had passed between the time that I got that word and the fulfillment of the word, but I kept reminding myself of that word as I waited at the bus stop in the rain and walked in the sweltering summer heat. This faith pursuit suddenly came to climax when during a Sunday service I felt led of the Lord to sow my last few dollars for my new car that God said I would not have to pay for and the next day I received a phone call from my mother telling me that our neighbor had a car that she wanted to give me for FREE!
Please understand that as you wait on the fulfillment of God’s promises you must refuse to waver regardless of how you feel because as my mom says, “Your faith in God will overrule the facts of your current situation.” You must constantly focus on growing your faith in God by reminding yourself of what He has promised you. Paul teaches us a vital principle in Romans 10:17, “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God(KJV).” As you frequently rehearse what God has said to yourself, your faith for the fulfillment of His promise will increase. Always remember that God’s delay is not his denial because good things truly come to those who wait.

“The greatest love a person can show is to die for his friends. You are my friends if you do what I command you.” John 15:13, 14 NCV
We live in a day and a time that demands radical obedience that is motivated by radical love. The world has seen enough of radical disobedience motivated by selfishness that’s why they refuse to associate with anything that resembles Christianity. However, we can’t allow this to silence our witness, but we must live God’s love out loud.
The other day I encountered a Jehovah’s Witness who preceded to tell me about the various crises that he’s currently encountering one of his issues being frequent seizure episodes that prevented him from keeping a job. I listened to him as he told me his problems sensing in my heart that this was an opportunity for him to have a God encounter. As we were preparing to part company I obeyed God’s prompting and asked if I could pray for his healing and he said, “Yes” thinking that I would simply lift his name up in prayer later, but sensing that God wanted to heal him now I immediately began praying right on the spot. After I prayed for him he began to feel better and expressed his appreciation for my actions. The next day I saw the man and he came to me and said, “Young man, what you did for me yesterday impacted my life greatly. It refreshed me and I know that it was motivated by real love, thank you.”
As disciples of Jesus Christ we have to follow his lead at all times especially when we are outside the church walls because that’s where radical obedience is tested the most. Too many believers leave their “holy boldness” at church instead of taking it to the streets. If God’s love is in you then you have an obligation to boldly declare the good news through your words and more importantly your actions. Always keep in mind that we are not waiting for a season of revival to come and turn the hearts of unbelievers towards God because revival is already here right inside of you. From this day forward may your declaration always be, “I am a revival!”
1. What has God been speaking to your heart in regards to ministering to others that you’ve been reluctant to obey?
2. What stories of radical obedience motivated by radical love would you like to share in order to encourage someone’s heart?

“For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God.” (Romans 8:19 KJV)
Where are the real “sons of God?” The original Greek text renders the word “manifestation” as uncovering. In other words, every believer with the Holy Spirit in them is a “son of God” whether they be male or female because “son” is general term that means child, but they must learn who they are according to scripture in order for their true identity to be uncovered. When a child of God is uncovered then they can begin to do as Jesus Christ did when he walked the earth of whom Acts 10:38 declares,“how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power. He went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him.”
When you know who you really are in God and what you are supposed to do, then you can stop wasting time and do some real good in the earth. You would have thought that Jesus’ disciples knew his true nature, but after he calmed the storm in Luke 8:22-25 they asked each other,“What manner of man is this! for he commandeth even the winds and water, and they obey him.” They evidently had no idea what an uncovered son of God was capable of and it blew their minds to see the supernatural power of God work through a flesh and blood person to control the weather like that. That same power is available to work through you, too. Jesus even said in John 14:12,“Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I am going to the Father.” That’s right! You are anointed to heal the sick, raise the dead, cast out demons and even control the weather, but you must have faith in God to make all things possible. (see Matthew 19:26; Mark 9:23, 10:27 and Luke 18:27)
Today let your faith rise to a level that makes the supernatural possible in your life on a daily basis. As you grow in your understanding of God’s word you will begin to operate as a child of God. Miracles, signs and wonders will become commonplace in your life. You will begin to go about doing good and healing all those that are oppressed by the devil it doesn’t matter if they are at the mall, your job, or even an entire hospital ward. You are a child of God and it’s time to awaken to your birthright. Arise, oh child of God! Arise!
1. How will you impact the world for Jesus on this week?
2. What are you doing on a daily basis to feed your faith so that you can live a supernatural life in God?
